After testing a dub-inspired sound on 'Stranger Things', Tunisian-born musician Maleq returns with Heavens & My Limbs on Fire, a track that plays out like a reckoning of roots and faith. The sparse production - a looping piano and tribal drums - is in the same haunted soul territory as James Blake and Bon Iver. Tunisian-born Montreal-based singer-songwriter recently released his latest single ‘Modern Man’ announcing his upcoming album ‘M INT.’
With his 4th single, Maleq worked alongside Jake Hydmann-Whithier (Zach Zoya, Véda) to experiment with his sound design abilities and deliver an epic and cinematic piece of electronica layered with a signature moody vocal palette. With his second release, Maleq comes back a year later with ‘Solo’. With this new track, the Tunisian singer talks about the need to make it into the industry and make his living as a musician. Maleq understands that only a few people are privileged enough to see their dreams come true but he is ready to put his sweat and tears unto-it.
“Solo is influenced by so many different genres of music. I wouldn’t be able to point what’s the main one.” explains Maleq. “I wanted to take my career one step at a time. If you listen to my first release then my second one, I’m sure you’ll witness that - in some way or another - I leveled up.”.
LAMBORGHINI COUNTACH

‘Lamborghini Countach’ is Maleq’s first ever single. With a cautiously curated synth sound and a picked and reverb guitar sound, Maleq raw melancholic voice travels over an intimate neo-soul drum kit.
“I was very nervous about my first release.” says Maleq. “I had to think about what I wanted to release and how I wanted to introduce myself to the world. It was easier for me to focus on the sounds I wanted to create – a mood – rather than my ‘artistic character’. It gave me enough gas to build on it.”
